At Swahili Community Church of America, we strive to empower individuals through faith and community engagement. Our mission is to foster spiritual growth and promote a sense of belonging among all members.
To empower and equip the Swahili-speaking community through the love and teachings of Jesus Christ—raising faithful disciples, supporting theological education, and sending missions that strengthen the Church locally and globally.
At Swahili Community Church of America, we are a Christ-centered fellowship united in faith, service, and mission. We believe the Holy Scriptures are the foundation of truth, and we are committed to live according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ through worship, discipleship, fellowship, and outreach.
1. The Bible
We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and infallible Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21). It is the supreme authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and conduct.
2. The One True God
We believe there is only one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19). These three are co-equal and co-eternal in power, glory, and majesty.
3. Jesus Christ, the Son of God
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man (John 1:1, 14; Philippians 2:6-8). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of the Father (Luke 1:30-35; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 1:3). He will return personally and visibly to judge the living and the dead (Acts 1:11; Revelation 22:12).
4. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, Counselor, and Teacher, sent to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:7-8, 13). He regenerates all believers, indwells them, empowers them for holy living, and equips them with spiritual gifts for the building of the Church (Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11).
5. Humanity and Sin
We believe that human beings were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). However, through Adam’s disobedience, sin entered the world, and all humanity became separated from God (Romans 3:23; 5:12). Without Christ, humanity is spiritually lost and unable to save itself.
6. Salvation
We believe salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). Through His atoning death and resurrection, we are forgiven, justified, reconciled to God, and given eternal life (Romans 5:1; John 3:16).
7. The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, made up of all believers worldwide (Ephesians 1:22-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14). Locally, the church is called to worship, disciple, serve, evangelize, and be a light to the nations (Matthew 28:18-20).
8. Ordinances
We believe in two ordinances established by Christ:
9. Christian Living
We believe all believers are called to live holy and sanctified lives, reflecting Christ in word, thought, and deed (1 Peter 1:15-16; Galatians 5:22-23). We are commanded to love God above all and our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39).
10. Holy Marriage
We believe marriage is a sacred covenant established by God between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6). It is a divine union designed for companionship, love, mutual support, and the raising of children in the fear of the Lord (Ephesians 5:22-25). We affirm that marriage reflects the relationship between Christ and His Church and must be honored, protected, and kept pure.
11. The Blessed Hope
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved (John 5:28-29). Those who believe in Christ will receive eternal life in the presence of God, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11-15). We joyfully await the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and the establishment of His eternal Kingdom (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 21:1-4).
